September 1, 2009
PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS

The contractor continues to patch deteriorated pavement in parking lot N which is closed to parking. Seal coat work to begin Tuesday in parking lots M and L. Those lots will be partially open for parking. Please observe signage and traffic cones. Seal coating operation expected to be finished by September 11. This will include work in lots B, D and N. GRAVEL PARKING
Bids have been released for installing temporary gravel parking lots at four locations on campus. None of the temporary gravel parking lots impact trees. Expect work to begin September 14 and continue until the start of fall term. Contact Brian McMurray, 463-5829.

RTS PARKING LOT EXPANSION
Bids are out for expanding the parking lot at the return-to-service building at the airport. Expect work to begin the week of September 14, and continue for approximately three weeks. Contact Brian McMurray, 463-5829.

PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS
Parking lot N is partially closed the week of August 24 to cut out and excavate damaged areas of asphalt. Contact Brian McMurray, 463-5829.

PROJECT 446 EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Christenson Electric, continued to place path lighting fixtures (pole mounted and bollard) along egress paths around campus, especially around Bristow Square. Parking lot fixtures are expected to be received during September and they will be installed by the start of fall term. Contact Dave Smith, 463-3433.

PROJECT 446 EXTERIOR LIGHTING

PROJECT 445 STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS

Stairs in parking lot L, stairs leading to building 19 and stairs in building 4 are completed, except for handrail installation. Rails for the parking lot should be delivered within the next week. Contact Brian McMurray, 463-5829.

SCHEDULE FOR 2009 PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS 
-8/17 - 8/18: Measure and mark out areas in lot N for asphalt removal.  Lot N closed.
-8/24 - 8/27: Cut out and re-pave areas of damaged asphalt in lot N.  Lot N closed.
-8/31 - 9/1: Seal coat prep and cleaning of areas in lots B, D, L, M and N that are scheduled to be seal coated.  Partial closures in affected lots.  Truck and equipment traffic throughout the campus.
-9/4 - 9/9: Seal coating and restriping in lots B, D, L, M and N.  Partial closures in affected lots.  Truck and equipment traffic throughout the campus.
-9/14 - 9/18: Touch up, clean up and punch list items to be completed. 

Seal coating will occur in approximately half of the total areas of lots B, D, L, M and N.  These areas will be coated with an ashpaltic spray product and will be restriped after the coating cures.  Some parking will be allowed in those lots throughout the project, but will be limited.  There will be truck and equipment traffic taking place during this work.
 
Parking lot N is the only lot that will be affected by repaving. Contact Brian McMurray, 463 5829.

445 Stair and Handrail Renovations
Remaining concrete steps in parking lot ‘L, and steps leading to bldg 19 will be poured on Friday, July 24. Installation of handrails remains. Completion of painting and handrail installation remains to be done on Building 4 steps. Contact Brian McMurray, 463-5829.

PROJECT 445 STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS

Remaining concrete steps in parking lot ‘L’ will be poured this week. Installation of handrails remains. Long set of steps leading from ‘L’ to building 19 have been removed and new steps are scheduled to be poured on July 27. Metal stair frame in building 4 has been installed and step treads have been poured. Painting and handrail installation remain. Contact Brian McMurray, 463-5829.

PROJECT 445 STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS
Work continues on steps in parking lot L this week. Expect the last steps to be poured on July 20. The long set of steps leading from parking lot L to building 19 have been removed and new steps should be poured on July 27. Metal stair frame in building 4 has been installed and the first pour for step treads will be July 13. PROJECT 446 EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Christensen Electric, the contractor for the exterior lighting replacement, has been working to ensure that the pole bases for the parking lot fixtures are ready to accept the new poles. The contractor will be pouring the bases for the pathway bollards (i.e. waist height poles) fixtures next week. Installation of pre-cast pathway light bases will also occur in the next month. The contractor is working closely with Groundskeeping to ensure that there is minimal damage to landscaping. Deferred maintenance electricians continue to work to replace old light fixtures that are mounted to the perimeters of the campus buildings with high efficiency LED light fixtures. Electrical service to the campus bus station was restored and the clock tower is working again. Work on this project is scheduled to be “substantially complete” by September 29, 2009. The upgrades to the campus lighting system were designed by Hanna Engineering of Eugene. Contact Dave Smith at 463-3433.

Replacement of connecting stairs in south parking lot L is continuing. The long set of steps leading from ‘L’ to building 19 have been removed. These stairs are scheduled to be completed by early August. Rumble strips have been created in designated parking lots and roads on the south and west sides of the campus. Stairs between buildings 4 and 5 are gone and new stairs should be installed by mid-August. Contact Brian McMurray, 463-5829.

PROJECT 445 STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS

Replacement of connecting stairs in south parking lot L is continuing. These stairs are scheduled to be completed by mid-July. "‘Rumble strips" in designated parking lots and roadways will be cut in this week. Stairs between buildings 4 and 5 have been removed and the contractor will pour concrete footings and floor patches Wednesday, June 17. Contact Brian McMurray, 463-5829.

STAIR AND HANDRAIL RENOVATIONS

Replacement of connecting stairs in south parking lot L is continuing. These stairs are scheduled to be completed by mid-July. Demolition of the stairs between buildings 4 and 5 will occur June 6-7. Minor plumbing and footing work for the new stairs will occur in the lower level of building 4 the week of June 8. Contact Brian McMurray, 5829.

PARKING LOT L CONSTRUCTION WORK
McKenzie Commercial will continue working in the south parking lot L next week.  They expect to pour the first set of curbs on Tuesday so we will have concrete trucks in that parking lot during the day.  Project Coordinator:  Brian McMurray, 5829.

PARKING LOT L CONSTRUCTION WORK

Parking lot L, south of building 16 Science and Math, will have trucks and equipment blocking off areas as McKenzie Commercial works on replacing worn out steps. Signs directing pedestrians to use alternate drives are posted. Contact Brian McMurray, (541) 463-5829.

DEFERRED MAINTENANCE PARKING LOT WORK

Parking lot L, south of building 16, will be closed May 16-17 for McKenzie Commercial Contractors, Inc. to begin demolition of connecting steps as part of the stair and handrail project. Work to replace the steps will take place following demolition and be completed about May 29. Users parked in the back of Lot L will need to follow signs directing them to the connecting drives between the rows for temporary pedestrian walkways. One set of stairs on the west side of the parking lot will be left in place because of the distance to the nearest drive from that end of the parking lot.
