The American Association for Women in Community Colleges is the leading national organization that champions women and maximizes their potential.  - Adopted 2004

The American Association for Women in Community Colleges is dedicated to changing women's lives through leadership and education, thus strengthening our colleges and communities.

The following definitions further define the mission:

  • Leadership – advocacy, actively promote, train others to be leaders, diversity, affirmative action.
  • Association – membership organization generating at the local, state, regional, national, and international level.
  • Changing – achieving equity, economic independence.
  • Education – improving access to education for all women, professional development through role modeling, workshops, conferences, forums and publications.
  • Community College – community, junior, and technical colleges.
  • Communities – learning communities, geographic communities, and global communities.  - Adopted 1994
